I went with a little Orange Crush 15w amp for my practice Amp, but a lot of people have told me that the Marshall's are superior.

I like the tubey kind of sound of the Oranges, and have nothing against Marshalls, just wondering if anyone else out there would care to comment?

As much as I respect Marshall amps, I can never figure out how to make them sound good enough at the store to put cash down for one. I'll stick with my Fender twin. smile.gif

I've heard good things about the Fender twins actually. I went with a Orange Crush 15w amp which is great. Loud enough for my home use, has a three way eq built in (low, medium, high) a clean and dirty channel, pre-amp volume and master volume.

I really like the tubey sound of the orange amps and like yourself have respect for Marshall but wasn't too sure if the sound was what i was after.

I think Marshall makes a good amp BUT you have to know how to tweak them to get the sound you want. Orange makes a great amp. I think you made the right choice there. I would have done the same thing :-)

I never tried an orange...
But as far as store testing goes... line 6, in my opinion, is the best
and I own a line6 spider... works great for me

Yeah, I've heard plenty of good things about Line6. I use one at my teachers place each week and it sounds great with any kind of guitar coming through it.

I haven't tried out an Orange amp yet.
I have a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100, 100W tube amp.
It is the first tube amp I have owned and i really like the liquid tube sound compared to solid state.
I play it through a Peavey dual 15 bass bottom which produces a really warm clean sound. I know that 15's are slow for guitar but they sound nice. For a practice amp, it is a bit too much power but i like the sound too much.

I just got rid of my Crate 1/2 stack and bought my first Marshall. I know im going to catch some stuff from the die hard Marshall and other tube amp guys because its solid state. Who cares, I love it and thats all that matters, its still a MARSHALL
